Task 5: Lemon Pie

Today we have to writte about our favorite dish, but my favorite food is a very sweet dessert: Lemon (meringue) Pie.

"Lemon Pie" is a very common dessert in our country, it's a variant of the medieval british "Pie". Actually, there are a lot of pies: apple pie, chees pie, pecan pies, etc.

The origin of this dessert is in the USA in 19 century, but it is in France where this dessert comes from.

The crust for this is standard for all pies, it is made with water and flour. I prefer the crust with butter, sugar and flour, the flavor is better. This is one of the many variations.

The lemon filling is made with eggs, suggar, lemon peel and drops of juice. And for the meringue it is used the white of the egg, suggar and lemon drops (for the shine).

The preparation (as I cook it): first I mix flour, butter and suggar. Once it is thick, I put it on a pie pan and cook at the oven. For the filling I have to melt the butter, beat the egg with sugar, the melted butter, lemon juice and lemon peel, once I pour the filling over the pie pan I put meringue on.

I love this dessert, I enjoy cooking lemon pie, it's very simple to prepare and the ingredients are very common.

I choose to write about a website related to our career.

As I said at first task, I want to get a major in physical Anthropology. And that's the reason to choose this website.

The website is part of the websites of Smithsonian Museum. Is a very interactive web, in wich you we can find a lot of information of human origins, for example: it has a 3D colection. In there we can find reconstructions from fossilized skulls belonging to hominids or a 3D representation of the Willendorf Venus or of handaxes...

The site also has a list of news called "What's Hot in Human Origins?" which is updated with new findings. the site has an educational seccion for educators and students, a seccion dedicated to research the human evolution called "Featured Research"; and there is a place in the website where we can write our own opinion about "What Does It Mean To Be Human?" and read others opinions. The site is a place where we can find a lot of information about Prehistory.
I visit the website when I have free time to surf the net.

task 3: Movie

The last movie I watched was Legion, an apocalyptic fantasy horror movie, it was based on a comic, and the plot is:
God got tired of humans and sent a legion of angels to kill us, but the archangel Michael didn’t agree with God's commandment, he said that his love for humanity cannot end, so he decided to protect the only hope to stop the extermination: a pregnat women.

The movie ends when the baby born in the middle of an attack and then archangel Gabriel came to kill the baby, the two archangels fought while humans escape with the baby. Archangel Gabriel kills Michael and went for the baby, but suddenly Archangel Michael fly from heaven with his wings, because God gave humans a second chance.

About the cast, I recognized only two actors: Kate Walsh and Kevin Durand. The first one worked in "Grey's Anatomy" and Kevin Duran (Archangel Gabriel) who acted in X-Men Origins.

I liked the movie because it seems realist, but many people didn't like it ... anyway I had fun.

task 2: Earthquake

That night I was in a goodbye party, one of my best friends was going to study in Concepcion on 5th March, there were 15 persons at house that night.
While I was falling asleep, suddenly I feel that the bed starts moving. Then I told myself “when it stops, I'm going to stand up” but each moment the earthquake was getting stronger, when things start falling at the bed my boyfriend comes.
I use eyeglasses and I didn’t know where they were, because everything was in darkness. I could hear things falling down through the house. my friend was screaming, she run to the garden and stayed there until 4:30 or 5 at morning… I prepared coffe for all.
My mother called a few minutes after and told me that my family was ok... then I went to sleep again, and wake up with the first aftershock.

This is my story, what do you think about it?
